Stacy McClellan, president of the REA Center (Owensville), asked commissioners for permission to approach the Redevelopment Commission (RDC) about Toyota TIF funds to replace the center’s gym floor.
McClellan said contractors had provided three preliminary estimates; costs will vary depending on conditions uncovered during demolition and whether sleepers and substrate require replacement. She reported a range of preliminary estimates of about $137,000 to $178,000.
A commissioner noted the RDC has previously funded projects that benefit employees and families of area employers and moved to give McClellan the commission’s blessing to present the request to the RDC. Another commissioner seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote. A commissioner volunteered to attend the RDC meeting with McClellan.
No county appropriation was made; the motion was limited to allowing McClellan to seek RDC/TIF funding and to support her request at the RDC level.
