The Arcadia City Council voted on Sept. 17 to adopt Resolution No. 256-05, confirming $10,686.44 in city costs to abate nuisance conditions at 2579 Baldwin Street and authorizing collection of those costs through a special assessment.
City staff described a multi-step enforcement process that included complaints dating back several years, code enforcement outreach, coordination with police and legal staff, an abatement warrant and contracting with New Life Services to remove accumulated material from the property. Staff displayed before-and-after photos and recommended the council confirm the costs listed in the staff report.
No public speakers addressed the item during the public hearing. A council member moved to adopt Resolution No. 256-05 as drafted; a second was recorded. The council voted in favor by voice and the mayor declared the motion carried.
The resolution authorizes the city manager to execute documents necessary to collect the expenses as a special assessment against the property. Staff said the abatement is one of a small number the city pursues annually and that most enforcement is accomplished through letters and standard code processes.
