Council schedules two public forums: short-term rentals Oct. 9 and Stewart Beach master plan Oct. 6

Councilmember Bob Brown announced two city-led public forums in October for projects seeking resident input.
Brown said the short-term rental committee, which has worked for seven to eight months, will present its recommended ordinance and seek public feedback at a forum scheduled for Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. at the historic Thirtieth Street Water and Electric Station, 715 Thirtieth Street. He said staff, planners, attorneys, the marshal and committee members will be present and that an online and paper survey will be distributed; the committee hopes to reach roughly 200 residents to gauge public opinion.
Brown also said the city has engaged a consultant to update the Stewart Beach master plan and will host a public forum at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the same Thirtieth Street Water and Electric Station. Brown said the forum will present the projects current vision and solicit input to "return Stewart Beach to the island flagship park that it once was." Design firms and city staff will present concepts and hear public suggestions.
Both announcements emphasized resident participation: Brown asked residents to attend and complete the forthcoming survey so staff can incorporate community preferences into ordinance language and design work.
Nospecific votes were taken on these items during the meeting; staff was asked to publicize the forums and the survey on the city website and through other city communications.
