City of Grand Prairie officials formally opened a renovated main entrance at the Grand Prairie Main Library, the city said, marking the latest stage in a renovation effort that began more than 10 years ago.
The updated entrance includes new signage, an inviting plaza outside, a large mural just inside the front door and a bright reception area designed to attract visitors of all ages. City materials note the interior of the building was remodeled in 2016; the new front entrance and exterior plaza complete the most recent phase.
Mayor Ron Jensen described the improvements as part of broader efforts to make the library a welcoming destination. The announcement quoted the mayor as saying, "we want you to know this is a great place to have fun." The city said the entrance was officially christened in July.
The Grand Prairie Main Library is open daily except Sundays. For hours and information about new programs and services at all Grand Prairie libraries this fall, the city directed residents to gptx.org/library.
