USBE outlines ACT timelines, three-stage accommodations deadlines and upcoming trainings

USBE staff reminded assessment directors that the ACT Test Accessibility and Accommodations (TAA) system is open and that, unlike a single hard cutoff in previous years, ACT now offers three initial request deadlines that correspond to an LEA's chosen test event. Staff advised LEAs to consult the ACT accommodations training materials for specific deadlines and to contact ACT accommodations support if they need help.

Staff said ACT accommodations training was recorded and posted to YouTube and that three additional trainings (site readiness, pretest administration, and test-day administration) will be available on USBE Zoom and promoted through AD memos. USBE encouraged district test coordinators (DTCs) to complete a district test coordinator survey and noted that ACT Now access typically becomes active in November in coordination with pre-ID files; USBE said they are pushing to have DTCs set up before Nov. 15 to accommodate local deadlines.

USBE also announced an in-person ACT college and career readiness workshop on Sept. 25 at Salt Lake Community College and said recordings and slide decks will be posted for those who cannot attend live. Staff reiterated that the Utah ACT pages and scheduled events will carry links and asked LEAs to verify Midas account emails so registration notices are received.

Why it matters: Changes to ACT's accommodations calendar and deadline structure require LEAs to plan earlier around test events. DTC setup and pre-ID file timing affect test administration readiness and materials ordering.
