Morrow County approves pay application, authorizes $185,458.71 airport payment for Royal County Airport fuel farm

The Morrow County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 15 approved pay application No. 3 from CW Mechanical and Plumbing for work on a fuel farm at Royal County Airport and authorized a $185,458.71 payment from the airport fund.

County staff who manage airport projects told commissioners the tanks for the fuel farm have been installed and that a chain-link fence will be erected "as part of the requirements of the FAA." Commissioner Carr said the county expects to receive a fuel cabinet in October that will allow aircraft to refuel. "Once that goes in, they do think still October, we should get our fuel cabinet, which is gonna be the device that sets on this side of the, the fence so that pike puddles can roll up and and fuel up their their pipes," Carr said.

The approval of pay application No. 3 from CW Mechanical and Plumbing was moved and seconded; the roll call recorded yes votes from Commissioner Mason, Commissioner Abraham and Commissioner Siegfried and the motion passed. Commissioners later approved a separate motion to appropriate certified money to pay an invoice from the airport fund for $185,458.71; that motion was also moved and seconded and recorded as passed with yes votes from Mason, Abraham and Siegfried.

Commission Carr provided additional operational updates on airport projects, saying the county expects a contractor to install the required fence "in the next week or two" and that a utility lighting project remains underway. Carr also noted a meeting of the development group and the county auction scheduled for Monday.

The board's actions on Sept. 15 included routine approvals earlier in the meeting, including approval of bill No. 10012 and the chairman's time; those motions were moved, seconded and recorded as approved with the same roll-call pattern. The meeting record does not specify movers or seconders by name for these motions beyond the generic "so moved" and "second."
