Committee accepts low bid for Terrebonne High softball field, allocates $557,989 from building fund

The Buildings, Food Service & Transportation Committee recommended that the full board accept the lowest responsive bid meeting specifications for the Terrebonne High School softball field Phase 2 project. The recommendation names Thompson Construction Company Inc. as the low bidder and establishes a total project budget of $557,989 to be funded from the building fund. The committee authorized the board president or superintendent to sign documents necessary to finalize the award.

District staff showed photos of comparable completed work at South Terrebonne and Ellender as visual context for the scope and cost. Presenters described project elements including a two-story press box with storage beneath, a concession stand with a three-compartment sink (Board of Health requirement), batting cages, sidewalks and new bleachers with seating for about 100–110 people. Committee members discussed restroom access for field users; staff said users would primarily use Houma Junior High facilities or porta-johns where appropriate.

The committee moved and seconded the recommendation and recorded no objections in committee. The recommendation will proceed to the full board for contract award and execution.
