Dr. Monica Breaux, who reviewed the plan for the committee, said the district annually reviews the pupil progression plan. Among the changes, Breaux said the K–3 language was simplified: for first and second grades the plan now requires a composite score "above the lowest achievement level" on the end-of-year literacy screener rather than the previously confusing phrasing listing multiple achievement categories. For third grade, the committee adopted promotional standards that treat science and social studies as separate subjects; third-graders must pass at least three of four major subjects (language arts, math, science or social studies) with a minimum grade of D and meet the literacy-screener requirement.
Breaux said the state added two sections to the pupil progression plan template: a section outlining district duties on course choice and a section referencing a scholarship for students to attend private schools; the transcript referenced the scholarship as "Louisiana Gator." The committee packet contained the draft plan and the language the district is adopting.
A motion to approve the 2025–26 pupil progression plan revisions was moved, seconded and approved; the transcript does not record a roll-call vote tally.
The committee did not change the district’s broader promotion or honor-roll processes at this meeting beyond the clarifications described; Dr. Breaux noted the changes were aimed at clarifying language and aligning the district document with recent state additions to the required plan sections.
