City staff told the Doral City Council on Wednesday, Sept. 10, that the proposed farmer’s market will require more time for vendor outreach and evaluation and that a formal recommendation will be returned at the next regular council meeting.
“The past several weeks staff’s been in active discussions with multiple vendors, and we believe that additional time is needed to assess the best schedule, location, and structure for the program. So, accordingly, we respectfully request until the next regular council meeting to complete our review and bring forward a well developed recommendation,” a city manager representative said during the meeting.
In a second update, staff announced that the city of Doral was recognized as one of the 2025 healthiest employers in [county], ranking fourth in the midsize category. Staff credited the city’s wellness programs — including fitness challenges, cooking classes, meditation and financial-wellness workshops — and thanked the human resources team for leading the effort.
The manager’s updates were part of routine staff reports. No decisions were made during the report beyond the request to return with a farmer’s market recommendation at a future meeting; staff did not give a firm launch date or a finalized vendor list during the session.
Ending: Staff asked for time to complete outreach and preparatory work and will report back at the next regular council meeting.
