The Facilities Improvement Oversight Committee reviewed a revised committee charter at its Sept. 16 meeting and signaled support for forwarding the document to the full board for approval.
Committee staff said the revised charter clarifies the committee’s purpose to provide financial oversight, strategic guidance and formal recommendations to the full board on school modernizations, facility improvements, health and safety projects, and other districtwide initiatives aligned with the long‑range facilities plan. A change noted in the draft replaces a previously proposed annual review with a flexible “as needed” revision schedule.
Committee members indicated they were comfortable moving the charter forward. Director Michelle Chase Miller said she welcomed the “added flexibility of adding the as needed rather than annually,” and staff said the committee will recommend the charter for approval at the next full‑board meeting.
Taper: The committee asked staff to include the revised charter and supporting materials in the Oct. 14 board packet for formal board action.
