Finance committee to extend listing of Schwarc Drain property; community-development repair bids reviewed

Committee members said the county owns roughly 36 acres in the village of Three Oaks; the property came under county ownership through actions involving the Drain Commissioner's Office and the Treasurer's Office. The committee approved minutes for its meeting and said more updates would come to the board as negotiations proceed.
The committee also reviewed community-development work where a projected cost of $24,500 was estimated for repairs on a privately-owned home. Two construction bids were received: $28,630 and $32,800. Community development staff will determine whether the lower bid meets the specifications and proceed accordingly.
Committee members also noted several waivers that were concurred with in committee. One waiver approved in the committee involved engaging Peerless Midwest for well drilling and fire suppression work at the juvenile center; the committee said an authorization resolution for that contract award will be presented to the board prior to the contract award.
No final county board vote on the realtor extension or the contract award was taken at the full meeting; items were reported out for future action.
