The Berrien County Sheriff's Office told the Board of Commissioners its August operations included new medical hires, changes to kitchen operations and active narcotics enforcement. The sheriff’s representative reported roughly 1,596 complaints handled in August and 444 tickets issued.
At the meeting the sheriff's representative said the department is "really happy" with the medical staff hires and that the kitchen changes are working; the department said it is using county equipment and is addressing issues as they arise. The sheriff's office also highlighted continued narcotics work removing guns and drugs from the streets.
The sheriff’s office received a $9,000 donation from the Berrien County Firefighters Association, the report said. The board was told the proceeds came from a 2025 benefit car show; the donation will be split, with $4,500 each designated for the mounted horse unit and the reserve unit. The county described both as volunteer organizations responsible for their own equipment and upkeep.
Commissioners were invited to review photos and materials from sheriff's events and awards; no formal action was taken on the report.
