County OKs 60-month Axon cloud and digital-evidence service agreement

The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 17 approved a 60-month service agreement with Axon Enterprises for digital evidence collection software and cloud storage, document number 2025-587.
Jeff Price, business manager for the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, told the board the county issued an RFP after its current vendor announced its product would be sunset by the end of the calendar year. The sheriff's office evaluated proposals and selected Axon through a cooperative procurement. Captain Brian Husband said Bend Police Department already uses Axon, the district attorney's office is familiar with evidence retrieval via that system, and the service would ease future evidence sharing.
Price said the system also provides a disaster-recovery component and would move on-premises evidence storage to distributed cloud servers, freeing on-site server capacity. Commissioners moved and seconded the agreement; the motion passed unanimously.
The approved agreement is a service contract for cloud-based digital evidence management and storage for the sheriff's office, intended to replace the outgoing vendor product and to support future integrations including potential body-worn camera evidence.
