County IT reports email migration to sawyercounty.gov after disruptive cutover; most users restored

Information technology staff told the Sawyer County Administrative Committee that a planned consolidation of multiple email servers caused some user disruption but that the migration is largely complete and users will benefit from a new county domain.
Mike Coles, information technology, said the project consolidated email systems across human services, sheriff’s office and courthouse functions and will allow use of the shorter sawyercounty.gov domain. Coles apologized for service interruptions, saying the change was intended to be seamless and automated but “didn’t quite work out that way,” and reported that IT is assisting a small number of accounts to restore full service.
Coles described expected benefits from the migration, including easier email addresses, improved collaboration through Microsoft Teams and simplified account management. He also noted other IT support tasks completed during the period, including reconfiguring in‑vehicle equipment for deputies after squad car swaps, restoring investigator mobile configurations and assisting with ambulance area scanning and run‑reporting systems after remodeling.
Coles asked staff to report lingering email issues to IT for one‑on‑one support. No formal action or budget request accompanied the report.
