Council approves outdoor entertainment license, waives $50 fee for Easton leukemia fundraiser

The Richmond Town Council approved an outdoor entertainment license Sept. 16 for an Easton leukemia fundraiser organized by Dennis Walker, to be held Sept. 27 at the Washington County Fairgrounds (78 Richmond Townhouse Road), the council announced.
Walker described the event at the public hearing: a car show, food trucks, games, a tractor display and similar community activities to raise money for Easton’s medical bills. Councilor Palmachano moved to approve the license and to waive the $50 licensing fee for the day. The council granted the license by roll call vote and also required proof of insurance naming the Town of Richmond as additional insured before the event.
Town staff and councilors noted an existing non-refundable $20 administrative fee in the ordinance; staff said the current code treats the $20 application fee as non-refundable but that future ordinance updates may address that practice. Councilors asked Walker whether the event had an online donation link; Walker said one would be provided to the town in time for council members to assist.
Councilors wished the organizer success and encouraged community support.
