Beaver County work session: triathlon, military expo and community events expected to draw thousands; sheriff's deputies to assist with traffic control

Tony, a county department head, said the Beaver County Collegiate Triathlon will be held in the county park, with Brady's Rod Road closed from 6 a.m. until about 2:30 p.m. for the event. Tony said signage will be posted at park entrances; he said the competition is at the collegiate level and noted participation from out-of-state teams. He estimated about 18 colleges were involved and cited "about 172" participants in the previous year.
Dan noted county sheriff's deputies have been asked to provide traffic control and security for a separate event at the Beaver County Airport: a military exposition being held at the county airport because construction at Pittsburgh Airport displaced the usual venue. Meeting comments said organizers expect several thousand attendees, and the county record referenced an estimate of up to 5,000 people.
Commissioner Rehan urged residents to attend multiple community events the same weekend, including Fort Macintosh Day on River Road and a Beaver Heritage Association event. Rehan also congratulated 27 graduates of the Beaver County Firefighters Academy and thanked local chiefs for training support.
Crystal, an audience participant, and another participant noted a fall festival in Midland with local food and baked goods scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights.
County staff did not provide a consolidated event operations plan or names of event organizers in the work-session record; no formal approvals or budget votes for the events were recorded on Sept. 17.
