CPZ presents working draft of Marathon County comprehensive plan; committee asked to review goals and objectives

The county planning department posted working drafts of chapters 2–13 of the Marathon County comprehensive plan and asked the executive committee to review consolidated goals, objectives and issue statements (chapters 3–12) in preparation for the October meeting.
Marathon County’s Community Planning & Zoning (CPZ) department presented working drafts of the updated comprehensive plan and asked committee members to review the goals, objectives and issue statements prepared for chapters with program content.
CPZ Director Lori Miss Kimmons said chapters 2 through 13 are posted as working drafts on the county website; chapters 3 through 12 contain goals and objectives the department will consolidate into a single PDF for committee review. She said the drafts still require formatting, graphics and several open data items, but staff focused on clearly stating issues, goals and objectives so those can feed into the county’s strategic priorities.
Kimmons noted updates to specific chapters: chapter 3 (health and human services) now includes new pulse data and an added issue about forthcoming income maintenance and Medicaid changes; the community character chapter expands discussion of homelessness efforts; chapter 10 adds material on a county service development fund; chapter 12 was expanded on intergovernmental coordination for state and federal funds.
CPZ Senior staffer Jeff Pritchard joined Ms. Kimmons. CPZ asked committee members to read the consolidated goals/objectives and background sections and to bring comments to the executive committee’s October meeting.
No committee action was required; CPZ will circulate the consolidated goals/objectives document and continue to refine chapters for future committee review.
