Library board approves final Monarch Library System appendix F addendum

The West Bend Community Library board voted Sept. 16 to approve the Monarch Library System membership addendum (appendix F) and authorized staff to sign the final version when it arrives.
Board members said the addendum clarifies responsibilities between Monarch and member libraries for networked services and large equipment. A staff presenter explained the addendum requires member libraries to notify Monarch before adding devices or services that will connect to the shared ILS and network, and that Monarch may review vendors to confirm compatibility and security.
Board members asked whether routine moves of existing devices — for example, relocating public computers during a remodel — would trigger review; staff said physical moves do not, but additions of new networked equipment would. The board discussed automated materials handlers (book sorters) as an example of large equipment Monarch would review to ensure vendor compatibility and integration with the ILS.
A motion to authorize staff to sign the final appendix F was moved and seconded. The board chair called the question and the motion carried.
