Clark County public health drafting resolution to improve prenatal care access for Medicaid patients

Jordan Bogie, senior policy analyst, presented a draft resolution the council will consider in its capacity as the board of health. The draft would direct Clark County Public Health to support payment reform initiatives, strengthen the maternal health workforce, increase data quality and transparency for Medicaid access, and develop a legislative agenda to address prenatal care access.
Hailey Pickett of Clark County Public Health told the council the Public Health Advisory Council (PHAC) has been briefed on the issue, received presentations in April, and will review the draft resolution at its next meeting. Bogie said the draft grew out of board of health direction earlier this year and stakeholder convenings, including a June policy summit.
Councilors asked whether community advisory bodies had been consulted; Pickett said PHAC and other partners "have been supportive throughout" and will provide feedback next week. Councilors signaled support for moving the draft to a formal board-of-health meeting for adoption, subject to any edits. No final vote was taken on Sept. 17; staff said the resolution is scheduled for the next board-of-health meeting unless further revisions are requested.
