Committee passes housekeeping amendment to 2025 occupancy-tax funded projects budget

The Chautauqua County Planning and Economic Development Committee on Sept. 17 approved a housekeeping resolution to amend the 2025 occupancy-tax funded projects budget.
Sam Zafoto, deputy director of finance, told the committee the change corrects an earlier error he made that left reserves incorrectly listed in a prior resolution. "This resolution is to correct actually an error I made on the earlier resolution this year," Zafoto said. He described the amendment as a reconciliation step identified by the First Deputy Director of Finance.
A committee member asked about occupancy-tax reporting frequency; Zafoto said the county's tax department provides monthly reports when requested, allowing staff to track seasonal trends. Committee members approved the amendment on a voice vote.
The resolution was presented as routine corrective action; no budgetary reallocation of county general funds was described during the meeting.
