Jamestown Community College roof and asbestos project accounts adjusted; resolution passed

The Chautauqua County Administrative Services Committee on Sept. 15 approved a resolution to amend capital project accounts for Jamestown Community College to cover a small roof overrun and to correct project-numbering errors tied to asbestos abatement at the Holt‑Quist Library.

Kathleen Denison, interim executive director of administrative services for Jamestown Community College, told the committee the roof project came in “$300 over budget” and that the state project funding needs to be closed out and the appropriation adjusted. She said other changes in the resolution correct mistakes made earlier in 2025 that mixed demolition and asbestos‑abatement project numbers. “It doesn’t affect the use of fund balance at all,” Denison said, adding the corrections simply move revenues and expenses into the proper project numbers.

The resolution also revises an earlier amendment (Resolution 01/2025) related to renovations in the Holt‑Quist Library to reflect the correct project coding for asbestos abatement. Denison later told the committee the asbestos project is coming in about $7,000 under the revised budget and that only a few minor wrap‑up items remain.

Committee members asked nothing further; the committee voted in favor of the proposed resolution and carried it. The committee recorded no roll‑call breakdown in the transcript; the vote was voiced as “aye” and recorded as carried.

The committee treated this as a technical correction to project accounting and not as a request for additional fund balance. Denison said the changes are administrative and are intended to ensure state project funds and county accounting align correctly.

The committee moved to the next agenda item after the resolution vote.
