Austin Peay launches GovConnect student-engagement platform; officials cite strong early use

Dr. Leonard Clemons, vice president for student affairs at Austin Peay State University, presented an information report to the Student Affairs Committee about GovConnect, a new student-engagement platform launched by the university.
Clemons said the platform replaces two separate apps previously used on campus and combines features including engagement badging, organization management and campus-wide event tracking. “There were over 20,000 interactions on this on this platform,” Clemons said, describing strong early use. He said students and academic partners can tap in with their mobile ID when they attend events so the university can track participation and use the data “for early intervention efforts for students that we see are not engaging properly.”
The item was presented for information and required no committee action. Committee members offered no motions tied to GovConnect during the meeting. Clemons framed the platform as both a student-life tool and an academic-support resource for identifying students who may benefit from outreach.
