In roll‑call voting, seven commissioners voted yes and two voted no (the minutes show Commissioners Gisler and Mazer opposed). The motion authorizes the board chair to execute the purchase and closing documents on the county’s behalf.
Supporters argued the site secures a downtown location for county government, affords operational synergy with the nearby Pratt Justice Center and aligns with broader downtown revitalization goals including a planned parking garage. Administrator Catlett and other staff said renovating the current administration building would create disruptions and was less efficient than acquiring and renovating or building at the new site. Opponents said the site was not the lowest‑cost option and urged caution on large capital expenditures.
