Lafayette commission approves agenda, names Michelle Sahar vice chair

The City of Lafayette Transportation and Circulation Commission unanimously adopted the evening agenda and appointed Commissioner Michelle Sahar as vice chair during the Sept. 15 meeting.

At the start of the meeting the commission voted to adopt the posted agenda after a motion and second; the chair recorded the vote as "Aye" with no opposed or abstentions.

Later in the old-business portion the commission solicited volunteers for a vice-chair role. Michelle Sahar volunteered; the chair put her nomination to a vote. The commission again recorded unanimous support: "Aye," and the chair congratulated Sahar.

Why it matters: the vice-chair appointment fills a standing vacancy and ensures leadership continuity. Commissioners also reconstituted an e-bike safety subcommittee with volunteers Tony Ratner and Mark Greger; staff said the subcommittee did not require separate formal action to take effect.

Voting record (as recorded in the meeting): all commissioners present voted "yes" for both adopting the agenda and appointing the vice chair. The commission membership present (recorded at roll call) was Greg Brown, Lynn Hedain, Michelle Sahar, Tony Ratner, Mark Greger, Mario DePrisco and Chair Bart Carr.

Ending: Chair Carr welcomed the full commission and thanked the volunteers for committee service.
