The Glocester Town Council on Sept. 18 authorized the town council president to sign a Constellation Power Options contract renewal covering December 2025 through December 2029, based on a recommendation from Finance Director Elizabeth A. Beltram.
A town memo from Beltram noted the town's existing electricity contract expires at the end of the calendar year and recommended extending the contract at current-day pricing because market prices were already starting to climb ahead of the long-range winter forecast.
The motion authorized signing the four-year renewal, with the final price to be determined by the finance director at the time of signing.
Councilors voted to approve the authorization during the meeting; the motion passed.
