Glocester council approves transfer of Sunset Cove Mobile Home Park license

The Glocester Town Council on Sept. 18 voted to authorize the transfer of the mobile home park license for Sunset Cove Mobile Home Park at 2267 Putnam Pike from current owner Janice Lowell to purchasers Shanna Boyer and Peter DuFrenees.
Janice Lowell, who said her family owned the park for decades, addressed the council and expressed support for the sale and confidence in the transferees' plans to revitalize the property.
Shanna Boyer and Peter DuFrenees told the council they plan to rebuild and replace the existing mobile homes with new units and improve the park's aesthetics. Boyer said infrastructure upgrades will be needed, including septic and water-system work; she reported they have been in contact with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management on engineering plans. Boyer said the park currently contains 10 mobile-home sites and eight site-built cabins and that only a few units are occupied now; she said about four residents currently remain and that one would vacate before closing.
The council moved to grant the transfer; the motion states the license will be reissued and renamed upon receipt of required documents.
Councilors asked about occupancy and plans for existing residents; Boyer said the new owners intend to work with current residents and not to displace them immediately and to allow time for renovations.
The motion to approve the license transfer passed.
