Select Board approves one-year sublease renewal for TCNA to host health services

The Select Board authorized a one-year sublease renewal that will allow the Tamworth Community Neighborhood Association (TCNA) to sublet space in the town-owned building for another calendar year.
Maureen Diamond, introduced herself as a member of the TCNA board of directors and described outreach over the past year to identify potential service providers. She said the organization does not expect revenue from subleases in the near term and has no current subtenants, but has worked on required certificates of insurance and waivers and now has a sublease agreement ready.
Diamond described three service areas TCNA is pursuing: podiatry, mental-health services and maternal-and-child health. She said podiatry has been difficult to secure because potential providers need specialized certifications for a largely diabetic patient population. Mental-health services are closest to moving forward: Diamond said a licensed clinical social worker who conducts walking therapy locally is preparing to sign a sublease for a few afternoons a month. Diamond also said Saukoppee Valley midwives from Maine have been offering monthly parenting classes and that Danielle Mason, a newly certified nurse midwife, is interested in serving Tamworth.
A Select Board member moved to authorize the sublease per the letter dated Sept. 9, 2025; the motion was seconded and recorded as approved. The board indicated the signed document will be placed in the signature file and staff will complete notary steps.
Why it matters: the sublease is intended to expand low-volume, community-based clinical services in Tamworth and to make space available for local providers with limited needs for regular office hours. The town expects no immediate subtenant revenue and TCNA said it has prepared insurance and waiver documents required by the town.
