County authorizes FY2027 Mountain Mobility grant application for vehicles and equipment

Capital grant funding is estimated at $563,924 (80% federal, 10% state, 10% local) to cover four replacement vehicles, four propane conversion kits, a new radio repeater and equipment to support a deviated fixed route trial.
High said the capital plan would replace vehicles and invest in communications infrastructure and route equipment; the County—ommunity Transportation Advisory Board and staff recommended proceeding with the application. The board voted to execute the application and accept the agreements and certifications required by NCDOT.
Ending: The board approved seeking the grant funds and authorized the manager to sign the necessary grant documents; final award and purchases will depend on NCDOT approvals and the county match.
