Ogden High student representative reports on PBIS attendance push, special-needs homecoming and extracurriculars

Alexa explained PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) emphasizes "On time, On task, On track" ("triple O T") schoolwide signage and a reward system of Tiger Points redeemable for items such as dance tickets and periodic prize drawings, including ski passes and headphones. To boost awareness of rewards and school spirit, student leaders launched "Clash of the Classes," a competition focused in September on punctuality; the program seeks low-cost reward ideas and uses student-government channels and PBIS meetings to promote participation.
She reported extracurricular activity updates: the band will compete Sept. 27 with the theme "Neon Dreams," JROTC hosted an orienteering event for seven schools, and student government organized homecoming decorations and a separate special-needs homecoming in the gym. Latinos in Action plans to tutor kindergarten-through-sixth graders at Liberty and Odyssey and is organizing Hispanic Heritage Month events on Oct. 8.
Board members praised Alexa's presentation and expressed interest in student reports from other schools. Alexa said she sits on the PBIS leadership team at her school and serves as a communications link between administration and students.
