Cindy Lloyd, a member of the HRV, told the Carmel-by-the-Sea Historic Resources Board that photographs show an eyebolt and a yellow plastic chain placed in the historic wall behind a steakhouse at Seventh and Dolores, an action she described as a desecration of a property that has been declared historic.
"There has been some upheaval about the Seventh And Dolores project and, what has happened is in order to block anybody from parking in the parking lot behind the steakhouse, somebody has put a great big eyebolt into the historic wall and a yellow plastic chain across," Lloyd said during the public comment period.
Board staff responded that they would look into the reported damage. Chair Kromen asked staff to assess the condition and possible remedies. No enforcement action or formal investigation was announced at the meeting; staff's response was limited to assessing the situation and reporting back at a later time or through the appropriate administrative process.
The board did not take a formal vote on the complaint during the meeting.
