Cerritos lists fall recreation programs, Ironwood golf hours and senior-center events including health fair and shredding

City recreation staff presented a slate of fall programs and senior-center events to the Parks and Recreation Commission on Sept. 4, including classes for children and adults, a Halloween Festival at the Los Cerritos Center, and a senior health and wellness fair.
Jill Toda, Recreation Services Administrator, said the Cerritos Ironwood Golf Course will change operating hours beginning Sunday, Sept. 7, and listed a range of fall classes: Drums for Fun (six weeks beginning Sept. 9), Little Ones Hour Acorn Explorers for ages 3–5, Parent-Child Mini Olympic Play Day on Sept. 13, Adaptive Dinner and a Movie Night on Sept. 13, and a Half Pints Night for preschoolers on Oct. 10. Registration fees were detailed in the presentation; for example, the drumming class was listed at $98 for residents and $147 for nonresidents.
Toda also described the 2025 Halloween Festival co-sponsored with the Los Cerritos Center to be held on Friday, Oct. 31 in the mall's northwest parking lot, with costume parades, entertainment, rides, games and wristband sales.
Jesse Zavala, Community Services Supervisor, reported on senior-center programming and upcoming events. He listed a series of free and low-cost senior workshops in September (living trusts, pain-management relaxation techniques, estate planning, aging-in-place topics) and announced a residential shredding-and-compost event on Saturday, Sept. 27 for Cerritos residents (two banker-sized boxes per household). Zavala also said the annual senior health and wellness fair will take place Friday, Oct. 3 (residents admitted starting 8:30 a.m.; general public at 9 a.m.).
