The McMinnville Streets and Sanitation Committee voted to recommend an agreement permitting school-zone traffic signs and solar-powered flashing signals on TDOT right-of-way near Boyd Christian School, with no city cost reported.
A staff member told the committee the city coordinated with Boyd Christian School and the Tennessee Department of Transportation because the signs are on TDOT right-of-way. "This will get they've already got new signage up. So coming from each direction, there's new signs. But on those signs will be solar powered flashing lights during school time, so you'll know when you're required to go 15 miles an hour," the staff member said.
The staff member said the city created the agreement and would facilitate signatures; the transcript records that TDOT or Boyd Christian will pay for the material and maintenance. "There's no cost to the city on this," the staff member said. The committee voted to recommend the agreement to the full board; a motion to recommend the item passed by voice vote.
Committee members confirmed the item will appear on the next full-board agenda for final approval.
