Staff said the walking path was specified as a pervious surface and parking areas were listed as impervious in the plan, but that there was flexibility to use gravel or grass in places to reduce cost. The staff member confirmed the notice-to-proceed requires the contractor to "furnish or dispatch within 10 days after a written notice of award," and committee members asked staff to seek value-engineering options from the contractor to lower costs on path and parking surfaces.
Committee members raised landscaping and fencing details; staff said the plan calls for many new trees and that the perimeter will use a decorative farm-style fence rather than chain-link. The item will go to the full board for final approval; committee members voted to recommend the contract to the full board by voice vote.
