The McMinnville Streets and Sanitation Committee approved a transmission replacement for one of the city's primary residential garbage side-loader trucks and accepted a single bid for the work.
A staff member told the committee the transmission on one primary side-loader was showing issues and the city wanted to replace it before failure. "We only got 1 bid on this at $17,000. It is within our budget for maintenance and repair in our solid waste," the staff member said.
Committee members asked where the vendor was located; staff said the bidder is based in Nashville and described an expected installation timeline of a couple of weeks. Staff identified available backup vehicles, including a refurbished side-loader and a rear-load truck, to maintain service while the vehicle is repaired. The staff member explained the vendor would perform transmission replacement and programming in-house to avoid previous warranty/programming coordination problems.
A committee member moved to approve the repair contract and a second followed; the motion was approved by voice vote.
