Clackamas County Clerk Catherine McMullen visited the Oregon City Commission meeting on Sept. 17 to mark National Voter Registration Day and Constitution and Citizenship Day and to encourage Oregon City residents to verify their voter registration and sign up for ballot-tracking services.
McMullen told the commission that Oregon City has 27,229 registered voters in city limits, spread across five precincts, representing roughly 8.5% of Clackamas County’s total 319,600 registered voters. She said National Voter Registration Day, first observed in 2012, is a nonpartisan effort to increase voter participation and urged commissioners and residents to help register new voters and young people approaching 18.
The clerk recommended three actions: check voter-registration status (via OregonVotes.gov), sign up for Clackamas County's ballot-tracking service to receive alerts when ballots are mailed and accepted, and make a plan for how to return a ballot. She noted the county operates 26 official ballot drop sites, including three located in Oregon City, and advised residents who mail ballots to send them several days before election day.
McMullen left informational materials and offered to provide more resources via the county website (clackamas.us/elections).
