Council members expressed concern about double compensation because Augustine already receives pay for deputy city clerk duties and other assignments. Council carried the appointment by motion and roll call; the motion approved the appointment and instructed the manager to notify council if any additional compensation is to be paid. The appointment will last until the next applicable election unless the council decides otherwise after review of options for an elected versus appointed clerk.
