After a motion and second, the council approved the settlement. The roll call resulted in four votes in favor and one opposed; Mayor Pamela Beltran recorded the lone no vote. Council members who supported the settlement said approving it would avoid larger legal costs and uncertainty, while opponents and members of the public said they preferred to contest the matter further.
Staff will implement the payment and finalize compliance steps required by the settlement agreement.
