Both recommendations came from staff and will proceed to the contract-award process or to the full council as required by city procurement rules.
Airport airfield maintenance
Staff reported that three bids were received for a one-time airfield maintenance task, with O'Connor (Augusta) the low bidder at $97,006.25. City staff said the project was budgeted at $103,000, leaving the low bid under budget. The committee recommended moving forward with O'Connor, subject to contract review.
Main Avenue sidewalk (site work)
Staff described the Main Avenue sidewalk site-work as the portion of a larger project; engineering, construction and inspection funding was secured through a Maine Department of Transportation urban partnership initiative grant. Three bids were received; the low bid for site work came from LZT Services at $224,850. Staff said an earlier bid round produced higher prices and a rebid with a spring start date produced more competitive pricing. The committee recommended awarding the site-work contract to LZT Services pending standard contracting steps.
Procedural note
