The Wicomico County Council unanimously passed Legislative Bill 20-25-12 on Sept. 16, a bill to amend Chapter 138 of the county code — titled "Electrical Standards" — to adopt the current edition of the National Electrical Code and to revise the process for promulgating future code editions.
Council President Cannon opened the public hearing on the bill and invited questions for Andrew Illuminati from the County Law Department. No members of the public rose to comment. Council members made no substantive changes during the hearing and voted in favor by voice/roll call. Recorded votes were given as “Aye” by all council members present, and the bill passed unanimously.
Ending: The ordinance takes effect per the county’s standard adoption process; the Administration and the Department of Law were the primary presenters on the bill and indicated staff will implement the updated standards and adjust permit and inspection procedures consistent with the adopted National Electrical Code edition.
