A representative identified as Chris from Kalspan described a proposal to add a 6,000‑square‑foot addition to the existing crash research facility to create a third preparation bay. Chris said the facility previously housed a small staff but has grown to more than 40 employees and needs extra capacity to host multiple customers and preserve test confidentiality.
Board members asked about nearby homes to the south and west and whether noise and lighting were concerns. Chris said the facility has not had a noise complaint in several years and that emergency and exterior lighting is photo‑cell controlled. The applicant said landscape and maintenance concerns raised by neighbors are handled as complaints arise.
A motion to approve the addition was made, seconded, and carried unanimously on the record. The applicant will proceed with the approved addition.
