Bridgeport’s council and volunteer organizers outlined plans Sept. 9 for an expanded fall festival and parade set for Oct. 12, with related community events beginning Oct. 11.
Organizers said the fall festival will be larger than last year’s activities and will include a hay maze, magician, balloon artist, free costumes for children collected from local businesses, and a vendor fair with a live DJ following the parade. They reported roughly 50 vendors had signed up and said the event will close with a drone show at 7:30 p.m.
The council member leading the report asked residents to volunteer to help set up hay bales and other festival infrastructure and to donate gently used children’s costumes to participating local businesses. The schedule includes a movie night with free pizza on Oct. 11 and a bar crawl later in the month with a sponsored bus for safe transport.
Organizers named participating attractions including the Kings Kensington String Band, the high school band, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile and other promotional vehicles. Council members thanked the many local businesses and volunteers who helped recruit sponsors and plan activities.
Ending: Volunteers and residents were asked to watch council postings for sign-up information and donation locations; organizers said they will announce final vendor and sponsorship lists before the event.
