During its Sept. 9 work session, the Revere Local Board of Education reviewed personnel actions, transportation staffing and a planned set-aside in the district’s PI fund and did not take formal action.
District administrators presented a list of new hires, resignations and changes in hours and duties across certificated and classified staff. The administration noted late-summer hiring of an intervention specialist to cover a maternity leave, payroll corrections to a previously approved salary for one staff member and multiple adjustments to part-time support positions and playground aid hours to meet student needs. Specific personnel names mentioned in the packet included Ryan Fletcher (salary correction), Denise Timpone (food service worker reassignment to the high school), Kathy Detwiler (position change), and new hires or role changes for Christine, Hannah, Renee and Holly (last names not specified in the transcript excerpt).
Transportation and driver recruitment were a prominent operational topic. Staff described recent bus-driver in-service training, a community “drive a bus” event planned for the coming Saturday, and two new drivers currently in training. Administrators said the district has used neighbor-district borrowing to fill driver shortages in the past and encouraged community participation in the recruitment event; the district reported 15 sign-ups for the event at the time of the meeting.
In the financial report, administrators described an annual request to set aside $75,000 from the district’s PI fund (Permanent Improvement fund) to build a reserve for future turf replacement. Staff noted the fund had been used previously to replace the field five years earlier and recommended continuing the set-aside.
Also on the agenda, administrators presented the district’s annual inter-district service-area contract with the Educational Service Center in Memphis, Ohio, to provide services such as school psychology support while a staff member is on maternity leave, and an out-of-state softball field trip planned for spring break. Those items were presented for review; no votes or contract approvals were recorded at the work session.
Ending — Board members asked staff to bring clarifications and to be prepared to present formal consent items at the next regular meeting; no final actions were recorded at the Sept. 9 work session.
