Staff said the property spans from Second Avenue South to Third Avenue South and that signage proposed on the Third Avenue side would be largely blocked from view by an adjacent pedestrian bridge; the proposed signage allocation on the side elevation would meet the guidelines if the building were located at that elevation. Because of those site conditions, staff recommended approval under Section 4 of the Broadway Historic Preservation Survey design guidance.
Applicant Lindsey Chris, representing the business, told the commission the proposed signage would be on the Third Avenue side and that the Second Avenue frontage would not be painted. Staff confirmed that directional arrows and other elements were included in the calculated signage area. A commissioner asked whether permitting the sign would create an avenue for additional future signage; staff said the approval applied to the current proposal and that the commission evaluates new proposals on a case‑by‑case basis.
A motion to approve staff recommendations carried by voice vote.
