Two community organizers and an event coordinator used the public‑comment period at the Sept. 23, 2025 Folsom City Council meeting to publicize upcoming community events.
Molly Slovak, a Folsom resident and planning committee member, asked the council to help amplify the inaugural “Folsom Family Pride” event scheduled for Oct. 11, 2025, at Lions Park. Slovak described the event as a free, family‑friendly National Coming Out Day celebration intended to connect LGBTQ residents and allies with queer‑affirming nonprofits, mental‑health resources, faith communities and youth programs. She asked the council to share event details on city channels where appropriate and invited elected officials, city staff and residents to attend. Slovak provided a web address for details at the meeting (fulsomcapride.com as read during public comment).
Brett Hofstad (representing the NASA Space Apps Challenge Sacramento region organizers) told the council the international NASA hackathon will take place at Folsom Lake College in October. He said the free, all‑ages event offers tours of the college’s new STEM building, robotics demonstrations, team formation over a weekend and presentations to judges on Sunday with prizes including tours of local aerospace companies; the organizer reported nearly 100 people already registered.
Ending
Both speakers asked for publicity and attendance; council members acknowledged the announcements and thanked organizers for community engagement.
