Volunteers build two Little Free Pantries in Golf Manor Village; location and installation logistics remain

Volunteers for Golf Manor Village’s Community Engagement Committee reported progress assembling two Little Free Pantries and said they will confirm installation logistics with village maintenance and the mayor.

Committee member Gwen said volunteers cut all pieces for both pantries and will paint and assemble them at an upcoming session. She said one pantry will be placed near a hairdresser’s location and the committee is investigating whether maintenance can prepare a concrete or asphalt pad near an area by a fire hydrant to improve accessibility and durability.

Committee members discussed shade and accessibility. A committee member said available shade is limited near the park and that placing a pantry at an outside edge of the park would improve access but may require maintenance work to provide a stable surface. Eric, the acting administrator, and a committee member agreed to ask the maintenance department about whether they could prepare a spot that would avoid cutting into recently paved asphalt.

The committee planned a painting work session for a Thursday prior to the next meeting and said volunteers will glue and assemble the structures after painting. Committee members also said they will coordinate with the mayor and maintenance to finalize the sites.

Ending Committee members said they will inspect candidate locations after the maintenance department checks for shade and surface options; final placement and installation depend on maintenance approval and scheduling.
