The Winslow Township Board of Education voted to table a personnel appointment under the personnel section (page 15, item A1) after members said the candidate had not received required advance notice for discussion in closed session.
A board member said the candidate (identified during committee vetting as Dr. Ferguson) had been selected from more than 16 applications and vetted by HR and other staff, but board members agreed they had not provided the candidate with the 48-hour notice ("RICE TOTUS" referenced in the meeting) required before discussing an employee in closed session. One board member moved to table the item until the next meeting so the district can provide the candidate appropriate notice. The motion passed 4 yes, 3 no (tabled). Those voting to table were recorded on the roll call as Clark, Stratton, McManus and Thomas; those voting not to table were Glaude, Pitts and Shaw.
Ending: The personnel item will return to a future meeting after the district provides the candidate the required notice; the rest of the personnel report proceeded without that item.
