Winslow Township interim superintendent outlines goals, testing, technology audit and supports for grieving students

Brent Pease, the interim superintendent, presented the district's 2025'1026 goals and several near-term operational items at the Winslow Township Board of Education regular meeting on Sept. 24, 2025.
Pease said the district priorities are student achievement, a safer and more positive school environment, and increased stakeholder engagement. He said the district will conduct weekly administrative walkthroughs to monitor instruction and use a district diagnostic assessment platform to track measurable growth in ELA and mathematics in grades 1—3. He also said the district will "implement creative ways to accelerate student learning by providing additional supports throughout and beyond the school day."
The superintendent announced a two-day technology audit on Sept. 29 and 30 that will include teacher and administrator interviews and wireless surveys to check connectivity and preparedness for upcoming testing windows. He also confirmed that 11th graders will take the PSAT on Oct. 29.
Pease said the New Jersey Department of Education selected the district for a special education monitoring review; district staff will work with the DOE through that process.
On student supports, Pease said the Traumatic Loss Coalition with support from Virtual Health will send counselors to School 1 and that a pet therapy program will visit to provide grief support following the recent loss of a staff member.
The interim superintendent also noted routine outreach he's conducting with school visits, faculty meetings and department heads, and he congratulated staff and students: a high school junior is a semifinalist in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program and Dr. Pamela Cooper published an article in the Hammitt Hamilton Gazette on supporting children with slow processing speed.
Ending: Pease thanked staff and the community and reiterated an emphasis on collaboration across administration, teachers and families as the district implements the goals and prepares for testing and DOE monitoring.
