Fisher said the district’s new safety and alert system (Evolve / SIMTGs in discussion) is "about 98% complete" and that staff are resolving device assignment and alert routing issues so school responders get only the alerts for their sites unless a broader lockdown notification is required. He said responder training was delivered to designated staff the week of the 18th and that administrators subsequently trained teachers. The system supports drill modes that will not notify emergency dispatch; full drills and coordinated exercises with local law enforcement and emergency management agencies are planned after the technical setup is complete.
Board members asked about routine use of the new track, and Fisher said rolling equipment (band carts, ambulance if needed) may be used but vehicles with aggressive tires (ATVs) that could gouge the surface are not allowed. He said track protectors and rotation of loading areas help limit repetitive wear.
Fisher reported a roof leak at Carver Circle affecting equipment in the elections area and described the damage as a visible exposure "about the size of a half dollar" (as observed on site). The district placed a tarp as a temporary measure and has engaged roofing contractors to evaluate permanent repair; Fisher said a contractor visit was expected within days.
The board heard data from the district’s Evolve false‑alert dashboard showing a decline in false alert rates after the first five school days; staff attributed early false alerts to Chromebooks, student behavior (passing devices nearby), and user unfamiliarity. Fisher said the district will run drills and coordinate with law enforcement and EMA for larger exercises to ensure staff and students know how systems behave.
