The Seward City Council on Tuesday tabled consideration of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the City of Seward and Dairy Processing LLC regarding site-readiness work at the Seward Rail campus. City staff said outstanding title items and recently updated utility rate information remain to be resolved before the city can finalize the agreement.
City Administrator Greg told the council: "This one's kind of on me. Not still not ready for prime time players yet." He said staff had a "big meeting tomorrow morning" with Mike, Brandon and Jared and had met with Kelly earlier in the day to complete remaining title work. Greg said the office was awaiting a final rate study related to the wastewater treatment plant; staff received the updated rate study late the prior week and planned to "process through the last of that" before finalizing the MOU.
Given those outstanding items, the council agreed without objection to table the MOU until October 7 so staff can complete title work, review the updated rate study and ensure terms work for both Dairy Processing LLC and the city. No vote to approve the MOU occurred at the meeting; tabling was the recorded outcome.
Ending The council set the item for further consideration on Oct. 7 and directed staff to continue coordination with utility partners and involved staff members to resolve title and rate-study issues prior to bringing the MOU back for action.
