Main Street Guymon reports partnerships, bench sales and Fiesta scholarship plans

At the council meeting Main Street Guymon provided its monthly director’s update, reporting eight renewals and three new partnerships in the previous month, nine benches sold that produced about $600 in profit for the organization, and plans for a Fiesta King and Queen scholarship program.

The director said staff is working with new businesses expected to open on Main Street and that fundraising from bench sales generated modest revenue, noting three benches will be located in Guymon and the remainder in neighboring towns in Texas County. The organization postponed a community Fiesta earlier in the year but has been sharing local Hispanic community stories with positive feedback. The director invited council members to a private dinner and crowning of the Fiesta King and Queen at the Methodist Church on Sept. 29; scholarship winners will receive awards to Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
